At our campuses, we provide playgrounds that get students moving and having fun at the same time. Our playgrounds are to encourage students to run from one piece to another, giving them a healthy dose of cardiovascular, heart-healthy exercise. Part of the appeal of playgrounds is that students get to be around one another. They learn how to take turns and exercise self-control waiting for a swing to open up and etc. Social interaction in playgrounds is very important for student development.
Students at Beaconhouse Yamsaard Schools have well-taught stimulating classes in the gymnasium, they learned valuable physical skills, set a pattern for lifelong fitness and grew socially from their experiences. Our gym classes provide students with physical exercise on a consistent basis. It is particularly important for the physical well being of students who do not engage in physical activities outside of school.
At Beaconhouse Yamsaard International Schools, swimming is one of the most important sports for our students. This is why we are offering swimming pools in all campuses. Swimming can help students build confidence, master a fun activity for both play and sport, and learn safety in the water, which can be lifesaving. Moreover, swimming can give students an intellectual and developmental boost as well.

Entry Requirements and Placement
BYIS accepts students of all nationalities. We evaluate each applicant to determine acceptance and appropriate placement. Previous school records are reviewed and considered in determining placement, so that students are placed at their appropriate instructional level.
Students are invited to visit and spend some time exploring the school environment and getting to know our experienced staff. On the strength of this visit and the earlier visit with the Principal, places are then offered and acceptance invited.
Although the majority of our students are fluent in English, some students are accepted into the school with very little or no English. Our English support teaching ensures that non-English speakers are readily integrated into the classroom learning environment.

It is highly recommended that parents visit the school before the child’s first day. The Principal and office staff are available to talk to all interested families and/or to give a guided school tour. Please make an appointment a few days before your intended visit.
BYIS uses the combination of the following three documents to ensure every student and parent that becomes part of our community upholds the school’s values of: Growth, Knowledge, and Virtue.
1) Placement Test
► The child must complete a placement test.
► If the child is entering into the correct year, the pass score is 50%.
► If the child is entering into the year ahead, the pass score is 90%.
2) Readiness Report
► As soon as a child enters the school, his/her behaviour will be observed by the office staff and any Teachers that encounter the child.
► A Readiness Report will be compiled by the members of staff who conduct the tour and the placement test.
► If the child scores lower than 30% on the readiness report, then the parents will be required to attend a meeting with the Principal regarding the expectations of BYIS.
► A child that scores low on the readiness report may still be admitted but on a trial basis with an accompanying behaviour report card that will be filled out daily by the child’s teachers.
► If after two weeks there is no improvement in the child’s behaviour, a second meeting will be called with the parents.
► If after a further two weeks (four weeks in total) there has still been no improvement in the child’s behaviour, the child will be asked to leave the school.
3) Previous School Survey
► If the child is transferring from another school, the office staff will take an email address for the child’s previous teacher. A survey will be sent directly to the teacher to be filled out and returned.
► If the score from this survey is below 20%, the parents will be required to attend a meeting with the Principal regarding the expectations at BYIS.
